A shoulder that will not lift, months after a rotator cuff injury or repair. An achilles that aches with every step and flares every run. These are the two problems I treat more than anything else, and they share a frustrating pattern: they improve slowly, then they plateau.
The plateau is where most people stop. It is worth measuring before you accept it, because a joint that has stopped improving is not always finished improving.
The cases that stay with me.
- A woman came to me with a stiff, weak shoulder a year after a rotator cuff injury from a fall. A year is long enough that most people have stopped expecting change. We started by measuring what range was actually there, which is a different question from what it feels like is there.
- Another patient hurt a tendon in her foot after an ankle sprain. Four months of pain, and her job keeps her in high heels for long hours, which is the detail that decides the plan. Rehabilitation that ignores what you have to stand in all day is rehabilitation you will abandon.
Why movement is personal to me.
I have been a dancer since 2011. I know from the inside what a body can do, what it costs to push it, and what it feels like when injury takes movement away from you. Dancers in my studio come to me for advice on preventing and recovering from injuries, and that trust means as much to me as any qualification.
Where I trained.
Diploma in Physiotherapy from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2014, then a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin through the Singapore Institute of Technology. I started at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, then spent six years at Jurong Community Hospital’s Day Rehabilitation Centre working with post-operative and complex patients. Outside physiotherapy I am interested in emotional awareness and health, playing the drums, travelling, nature and animal conservation, and training in my free time.
Core skills
- Musculoskeletal, sports and dance physiotherapy
- Post-operative physiotherapy
- Geriatric physiotherapy
- Neurological physiotherapy
What I treat
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Rotator cuff pain and post-operative rotator cuff repair
- Shoulder stiffness that has stopped improving
- Ankle and foot injuries that will not settle
How the work is structured
Every plan I write runs on the Phoenix Recovery Protocol: four stages, each with criteria to meet before you leave it. If you have had an operation, physiotherapy after surgery sets out how those weeks are run. Physiotherapy covers everything else we see.
