About Phoenix Rehab Physio & Hand

Physiotherapy and hand therapy for orthopedic, sports and musculoskeletal problems, at five clinics in Singapore. Started in 2018 by a physiotherapist who wanted every patient to have one therapist, one room and the whole appointment.

How Phoenix started

Louise Yow started Phoenix Rehab in 2018. She is a physiotherapist, and she still treats patients: back and neck pain, posture, ergonomics, and the complex cases that do not fit a neat box. Nigel Chua, a hand occupational therapist, joined in 2019 and built the hand therapy side. Between them they set the rules every Phoenix clinic still runs on.

The name is about what rehabilitation asks of a person: rebuilding, one stage at a time, after an injury or an operation has taken something away.

Five rules we work by

One therapist, one patient, one room

Every appointment is 45 minutes, one-to-one with your therapist, for the whole time. We do not use therapy assistants.

The same therapist every visit

You are matched with a therapist and you stay with them. Your next review is booked with the same person before you leave, because measuring range and strength over time only means something if the same person is taking the measurements.

Orthopedic, sports and musculoskeletal work only

That is all our therapists do. If a problem sits outside it, or needs a doctor first, we say so and tell you where to go.

Find the real problem, then treat it

Finding the real problem is half the battle. Treating it is the other half. Your first appointment, the Assessment & Treatment, does both: a deep assessment, then treatment in the same 45 minutes, and a written plan.

Straight about surgery

Surgery is usually considered when something is torn, broken or unstable. If your assessment points that way, your therapist tells you plainly and refers you to a doctor. We take no commission for any referral.

One method under everything

Every program we run follows the Phoenix Recovery Protocol: four stages, Calm & Protect, Move & Mobilize, Rebuild & Strengthen, and Return & Perform. You move up when you meet measured criteria, not when a set number of weeks has passed. Criteria Before Clearance. Graduation, Not Discharge.

From your first appointment, your written plan says what graduation requires. We plan for the day you stop needing us.

Who treats you

Our team is physiotherapists and hand occupational therapists, each registered with the Allied Health Professions Council, plus a TCM physician registered with the TCM Practitioners Board, a craniosacral therapy practitioner and a sports massage therapist. Every therapist has a declared clinical interest, and patients are matched to the therapist whose interest fits their problem.

Hand and wrist cases are managed by our hand therapy team, who trained in Singapore’s hospital hand therapy departments and make custom splints by hand in the clinic.

Amazing experience with Phoenix Rehab, was assisted by Mavis. She’s very kind and professional and did thorough check on my wrist. I feel very comfortable during the process.

I went in for thermoplastic splint, and everything went smoothly. She was able to address my needs on my left wrist sprain.
