I no longer treat patients. I focus on leadership, management, growth, systems, culture and quality control. The team here are people I picked myself, and people I would be happy to send my own family to. You can still reach me any time to say hi by WhatsApp here. Thank you for all your support, referrals and friendship over the years. I appreciate you, and God bless you.
I graduated with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from Nanyang Polytechnic, and I had a very good time there learning about life, development, movement, meaning and independence. The lecturers were amazing teachers. During that time I secured a bursary scholarship from Changi General Hospital, which I am grateful for, and which tided me through the three years. After I graduated in 2005, I got to work almost immediately.
In 2007 I decided to level up, taking night classes for a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney. My work at Changi General Hospital in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal inpatient occupational therapy, followed by years in outpatient finger, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow therapy, is where I found the work I wanted to do.
I wanted more time with my hand injury patients than a hospital list allows, so I took it to the next level and went into private practice.
Over time I developed my own hand therapy approach, distilled from thousands of finger, wrist, forearm and elbow treatments. It accounts for what you are hoping to get back to, not only what the tissue is doing.
Outside hand therapy and running Phoenix Rehab
- Spending time with my wife, my kids and family
- Pursuing and discussing Jesus, stoicism and personal development with friends and loved ones
- Working out. I still dream of that six pack
- Reading and writing
- Cooking for my family and eating together, which is the best part of the week
What I treated in the fingers, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow
- Hard tissue: bony fractures
- Soft tissue: tendons, ligaments, cartilage, muscle
- Joint stiffness after injury or infection
Outside the clinic I write at handpainnomore.com, a reference library on finger, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow conditions: what each one is doing to the tissue, how long recovery usually takes, and the point at which waiting starts costing you function. It is written for a general audience anywhere in the world and it does not take bookings. Patients in Singapore should contact the clinic directly.
How the work is structured
Phoenix runs every plan on the Phoenix Recovery Protocol: four stages, each with criteria a patient has to meet before leaving it. The clinicians who deliver it are here, and the recovery programs are what it looks like condition by condition.
