About Nigel Chua
UPDATE: I (Nigel) no longer treat patients and focus on leadership, management, growth, systems, culture and quality control. I can confidently vouch for the team that I personally pick and allow in – these are people I’d be happy to see and recommend my own family or myself. You can still reach out to me anytime to say hi by whatsapp text me here, thank you for all your support, referrals, friendships and more. I appreciate you and God bless you.
I graduated with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore), and I had a very good time learning about life, life development, movement, meaning and independence. The lecturers were amazing teachers. During this time, I secured a bursary scholarship from Changi General Hospital, which I’m grateful for that tided me through the 3 years of NYP studies. After I graduated in 2005, I got to work almost immediately.
In 2007, I decided to level up where I went for night classes to pursue and increase my knowledge through a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney (UniSyd). During my time of work in Changi General Hospital in orthopedic and musculoskeletal inpatient occupational therapy, followed by years in outpatient finger, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow hand occupational therapy led me to find satisfaction and joy in treating hand injuries.
It’s still fascinating and amazing when I can get a patient from 15% to 97+%, little to no pain and near-full (best is full!) strength, stamina and stability.
I started to want to do more and have more time with my hand injury patients, so I took it to the next level: going private practice.
Over time, I develop my own hand therapy treatment style, approach and philosophy, distilling the best practices coupled with thousands of finger, wrist, forearm and elbow injury treatments experiences. I factor in your emotional, aspirational and psychosocial hopes too.
During my free time, or at least time outside of hand therapy and managing Phoenix Rehab, I enjoy:
